Our aims and objectives
Learning Centre Link is the state association for community, neighbourhood and learning centres in Western Australia. It aims to actively link communities in a way that leads to their self-determination, to the realisation of their full potential and to the creation of their future.
Learning Centre Link achieves its goals by :
- providing resources, information, training and support to its member centres and to groups establishing as a centre;
- promoting and facilitating extensive networking between its member centres, and between centres and other relevant agencies;
- representing its members on numerous other state and national organisations with whom it is affiliated;
- Fostering active participation by its members in two national annual events:
-
Neighbourhood House Week - a celebration of the achievements of community neighbourhood houses and learning centres, and
-
Adult Learners Week - a celebration of lifelong learning focusing on adult learning.
Our structure
- Learning Centre Link is managed by an Executive Committee drawn from member centres, which meets regularly throughout the year. The Executive Committee is responsible for the overall management of the organisation.
- Learning Centre Link has five permanent part time staff members ('co-ordinators') with expertise in the areas of community development, adult education and public relations.
- The co-ordinators are supported by a part time administration officer and a contract bookkeeper.
- Link staff are responsible for the day to day activities of the organisation and the development of resources and training opportunities for Link member centres.
